East Bound And Down

The Sens are ready to resume the regular season hunt for a post-season berth, and as is always the case, what went from early-season dream has now become mid-season expectation.

It’s always funny how a surprising improvement in performance eventually becomes the minimum acceptable expectation.  Now, should the Sens fail to make the post season, for many, it would be a failure of a year…how quickly things can change.

But what hasn’t changed is the main reason making the post season was considered pie in the sky not just 4 months ago.

The team is young and in-experienced.

And now, for the first time this season, they’re facing adversity, and pressure, all at once.  And their competition is no longer looking past them.

Make no mistake, this is going to be a very difficult task to pull off, and to consider the Sens as a post season team is folly, in my opinion.

But now the Sens have a theme song for the remainder of the season, and as the song says;

We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there,
We’re gonna do what they say can’t be done…

And if the Sens are going to make it, they’re going to need The Bandit (Craig Anderson) to get ‘er done!

  1. GN:

    You are sounding like a Hockey News guy trying to make room for Tranna. We play Boston 4 times…then we kick the tar out of everybody else in a fair fight.

    To me it’s the fact that we can still score (explosive) and so our superlative goalie just keeps trying the whole game. Did you note how inept those big Left Coast teams were on offense!
