Steel Town Melt Down

Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you Sens fans (not that it took much foresight to see that coming).

As I said in my pre-game post, if the Sens failed to control the slot, the Pens would burn them, and burn them they did, putting the game away before the end of the first period.

At the end of the day the better team won, not just the better team on the night, and there’s no shame in that.  The fact the players stayed engaged in the game, and managed to stop the bleeding, if not actually threaten to get back into it, is a credit to their desire for improvement and to win.

File this one away where it belongs Sens, under lessons learned, and use it to challenge to close the obvious gap between yourselves and the best team in the east.

Sunday is redemption day, right?

  1. Can we not get consistent goaltending? I think it’s time to get Elliot back – how about:
    St.Louis – Elliot
    Ottawa – Gonchar

    • Elliott is having a great run, but goaltending wasn’t the issue last night, it was golden opportunities that, lo and behold, some elite scorers capitalized on, IMO.
      But I get your point.
