George St. on my Mind
For anyone who has been, the truth of St. John’s beauty is well known.
As a North American city, it is truly among the most unique, a rare combination of ultra modern (thanks to the booming oil industry) and, in New World terms, the ancient.
The hilly and haphazard streets, the architecture, a brilliant blend of Palladian and Second Empire, but all with a distinctively unique Newfoundland charm, Signal Hill and Qidi Vidi, all make for a wonderful city to visit.
Truth be known, St. john’s is a city all Canadians must experience, not unlike Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, Kingston and Vancouver, for its unique character and importance in the fabric of our nation.
Fortunately for Colin Greening, the local Senators tour guide, he’ll get to display not only the city, but the cities enthusiasm for hockey.
I can’t wait!
