Geritol, Prune Juice or Viagra

I don’t care what it takes, just get this team going!

Is it about the older players taking longer to “warm-up”, as has been surmised by fans, media and players alike, that has led to the poor start?

Sure, it could be, I guess.

But what is absolutely clear is the huge gap between ability and performance thus far by the Ottawa Senators, and it doesn’t just reside on the >30 list.

Karlsson has been, in a word, crap.  He has had bad pinches, hair raising give-aways, and been useless on the PP, at best.

Smith has been, actually I’m not sure what he’s been, because I haven’t even noticed him.

Same goes for Winchester, who’s been firing blanks, both at the net, and along the boards.

Apart from Kelly, Neil and Ruutu, the skaters on the Sens, to a man, have been poor to terrible, and it has got to stop.  I can live with losing, I hate it, but I know a team doesn’t go 82-0, but to lose they way they have is beyond disappointing, it’s embarassing.

But, rightly or wrongly, I believe it will change.  Just like the Sens have played their best hockey in the third periods of games, I believe they will begin playing significantly better as the season progresses.

I also believe it will be sooner rather than later, and there’s no reason to panic.

Ya just gotta believe.

  1. GN, I think that Clouston and Sens management know that Leclaire can be a bona fide #1 goaltender in the NHL. However, they also realize that they need to know that he can do it this year in a Sens uniform and that is why his character is being tested. They need to know right now if a move is needed between the pipes, whether it being in the form of a trade or even possibly bringing up Lenher.

And Elliot is NOT the answer. He might have helped securing 5th in the East last season but we all saw what happened in the playoffs.
