The Good News?

Ottawa lost.

Yeah, I know, how can that be good news, right?

We’ll because they weren’t beaten, they lost.  If the Sens had committed to paying 60 minutes instead of 30, they would likely have won.  As it was they still had the opportunity to win, and had Kovy and Camps buried their glorious open net chances, it would have been a win, not a loss.

Fortunately the loss came to a non conference rival.  Tonight won’t be the same.  A loss to NYI not only cost the Sens two important points, but it will add the the points totals of a team jockeying for a play-off berth.

The win will come if Ottawa stops with these terrible first periods.  Maybe it has to do with being at home, and trying to be a bit too fancy instead of just sticking to the game plan of a hard forecheck, and keeping it simple in the d-zone.

If the Sens keep getting caught running around in their end, the slide will continue, if they keep it simple, they’ll win.
