No Fisher. No real surprise. It was Staal and Morrow instead. Hmmm, what’s a guy to do? Oh well.
My only worry is Fishers play going forward. Has his Olympic dream played a key role in his performance thus far? Will there be a let down? Will there be a push back?
Odds are at least one of these players will be out before the tournament begins, so Fisher will no doubt keep his eyes on the prize until then.

Personally, I think that Fisher will play lights-out hockey between now and the Olympics. If for no other reason, then to prove to Stevie Y. that he made the wrong choice.
I smell a 4-point game coming up for him.
Regardless… I think a nice extended break will do the Sens some good. Let Fish, Spezza, Alfie and Kovy rest up, and then we’ll be BEASTS OF THE EAST after the Olympic break!

While there’s something to be said for resting players for the here-and now, there’s just as much importance in growing a player, and playing in the olympics is a fantastic learning experience for any player. Just look what it did for Fisher’s game, playing in the World Championships…
I’m glad Michalek will get the chance to play against the best in the world. It should be good for his long-term development.
