Dinky & The Vain

So, with a truculent fan base showing their displeasure at the mighty Leafs starting the season 0-6, are Dinky and The Vain at risk of being shown the door?

It would be hard to imagine, especially considering the fan-fare with which The Vain came into the Big Stink.

But honestly, what other coach, or GM, would survive such abysmal play?

I suspect, once again, the MLSE BOG will begin a new round of the blame game, resulting in buying both Dinky and The Vain enough time to show a minor amount of success.  Then, as history has written oh so many times with this franchise, the slow bleed-out will be allowed to continue, until even the most head in the sand follower will have to admit the teams prospects of success are dead, not just resting its eyes.

And to think, a one year wonder, Kessel, will be looked to as the saviour of this squad.  Might I ask, just who is going to get him the puck?  And should this deficiency (along with the goaltending) become too difficult to ignore, what, apart from some young talent (Schenn, Kahdri), does this franchise have left to trade?

What a mess.

It’s almost enough to make one feel bad for Leaf fans.

Almost.

  1. It’s sad isn’t it. May be it seals the fate of Burke as a “good GM” . This guy is so arrogant it is not funny

  2. I love a Toronto lose more then i love a Ottawa win, so im in heaven right now 🙂

  3. I went to bed last night trying to feel sorry for the Laffs. Closed my eyes. Even squinted trying to think of any possible reason to sympathize. Pinched myself. Nope. The I thought….two first round draft picks which might mean Taylor Hall going to the Boston buddy bears and woke up laughing so hard I split my gut.

Dinky and the Vain. Love it. Keep up the great work!

  4. It’s funny… I find myself not getting pleasure out of the woes of the Leafs and their fans anymore, but more out of the pleasure of seeing the guys running the club falter. Burke talks too much. His head is so far up his ass, he’s likely choking on it. He deserves what’s coming to him for all that BS he spewed about making the club tough and awesome and energized. He should’ve stfu and let the results speak.

  5. Lee Zamparo Says:

Yeah, Burke is a jerk no doubt about it. And I’m not crazy about Ron Wilson either. But I do feel bad for people in Toronto. After years of total BS on the part of subsequent owners (Ballard, MLSE), people around here are desperate for management that wants to build a winning team. I kind of hope that these jokers can do that. Maybe next year 🙂

  6. What REALLY pisses me off is the great picks that Boston is going to get in the next two years. As far as the Leafs go I don’t expend any energy on such a lousy hockey team.
